To everything there is a season

Not much of one to be sentimental on my site or anything but this is our little girl Roxie. Roxie has been with us for many years and the act of becoming old is beginning to show on her. 😦  Roxie came to us as a rescue. She was with another family who thought that it would be best to get rid of her but Roxie had circumstances. She had demodex mites. Dogs with them can never get rid of them and they are only passed from mother dog to puppy. Some states even mandate that all dogs with demodex be fixed or put down. Because Roxie was not to be put down, she was put on a lifetime supply of ivermectin. It essentially made her a walking bag of poision to any parasite that may come in contact with her. This was good for us because I did not mind the daily dose nor did I mind the fact that fleas did not like her either. Because of the Demodex, her previous owners assumed that Roxie would give the mites to their 2 year old daughter. For the record, humans have demodex mites in their eyebrows and always will. It cannot be passed from dog to human. Well, this family tried to take her to the humane society. That establishment refused to take her in because of it and the family decided to take her out to the country and release her. Obviously THAT did not happen. A good friend at the time knew we were in the market for a Jack Russell Terrier and asked would we take her in. Roxie came to us with her paper, food, bedding, toys, and shots. A perfect package and I would not trade her for the world!

Alas, now she is getting old, her eyes are getting cloudy, and she has the shakes. Our girl.:*(  I am so sad that this is happening but it was only a matter of time. Our middle son grew up with her and it will be hard but she is a good girl and heaven will be blessed when she arrives. I know our Rox has more time with us but we are going to shower her with more love than ever because I do want to see her again. 🙂  She will have some cool companions up there with my Pepper, Sarah, and Behr. This is my ode to Roxie. Our girl. Our Roxie Box. Image
